这个文化差异吗?谁可以给我答案
Package theft is really nothing new.
I told my friends that if this had happened in China,I probably wouldn't have been so unlucky, because based on my experience, people in China simply don't steal things like this.
And honestly, many foreigners find it truly astonishing.
Like I've seen quite a few foreigners making videos in China, showing how things and packages are left in public placesfor an entire day,and that nobody takes them, right?
And I totally understand why they're so shocked, because in the West, especially in countries like the United States or the UK,items left in public placesare almost certainly gone in a few momentsor in a couple of hours.
And that's why,in most cases, delivery drivers knock on the door to give you a call.
They knock on the door for a face-to-face handover.
Before coming to China,I'd never seen anyone receiving packagesthe way my wife does.
So since we're often busy, we're not home, like whenever a delivery driver calls her,she would say,OK, just leave it at the doorstep.
This was absolutely mind-blowing to me,at least when I just arrived in China.
Now, over time, obviously, I got used to it,especially after witnessing myselfthat things don't get stolen.
And now, being back in Canada,I sometimes still forget that I'm not in China.
So what do you think is the reason behind this?
Is it the culture?
Or is it the fact that there are no cameras around?
I'm really, really curious to hear your opinion.
Cheers.
