【老师救救我】contact 和 contact with 怎么用才对？
学英文时，介系词一直是莘莘学子的一大困扰。最近老师在回答问题时，发现大家对于这几个字要不要搭配介系词感到很困惑：contact、discuss、emphasize、lack。先来赶快测验看看你会不会吧！
1. I’ve been trying to contact / contact with you all day.
2. We can discuss / discuss about it later.
3. I want to emphasize / emphasize on the importance of self-learning.
4. Judy lacks / lacks of confidence.

contact
contact 这个字当动词「联络」时，为及物动词，后面直接接上受词就好啰，不需要介系词。所以第一题的答案是：
I’ve been trying to contact you all day.（我一整天都在试著联络你。）
再来看几个 contact 当动词的例句：
You can contact us via Skype or email.（你可以透过 Skype 或电子邮件联络我们。）
Mia's dog has been missing for three days, and thus she decides to contact the police.（Mia 的狗狗已经走失三天了，所以她决定要报警。）
那 contact 在当作名词使用时，才会搭配介系词 with 唷。例如：
I'm still in contact with my friends from college.（我跟我大学的朋友还有在联络。）
discuss
discuss 这个字在使用时，一样是不加介系词的唷～所以第二题的答案是：
We can discuss it later.（我们可以待会再讨论。）
再多看几个正确的例子，加深一下印象：
Let’s discuss the issue later during the meeting.（我们等等在会议上讨论这个问题。）
Did we discuss this topic last week?（我们上周讨论过这个主题了吗？）
那除非是把 discuss 替换成意思相似的 talk about，或者是名词用法 discussion about someone / somebody「有关某人事物的讨论」，才会有介系词唷。
They are talking about sending their kids abroad to study.（他们在讨论送小孩出国念书。）
We had a heated discussion about politics with the taxi driver.（我们和计程车司机热烈地讨论了政治一番。）
emphasize
看到这里，聪明的你应该归纳出来了吧～emphasize「强调」也是及物动词，不可以加上 on 唷！所以第三题的答案是：
I want to emphasize the importance of self-learning.（我想要强调自学的重要性。）
而名词用法的 emphasis 会搭配 on，put / place emphasis on something 就解释为「重视某事物」，例如：
We have been putting a strong emphasis on giving excellent customer service.（我们一直以来都极为注重给予优质客户服务。）
The company placed zero emphasis on team-building.（这家公司完全不重视团队建设。）
lack
最后这个也是很多人搞不清楚呢。lack 在当动词时是不加介系词的唷，lack something 就可以表示「缺少某物」。因此第四题的答案是：
Judy lacks confidence.（Judy 缺乏信心。）
而除了 confidence 之外，lack 后面也时常搭配 experience「经验」、ability「能力」、skill「技巧」、power「力量」等名词喔。
Dan lacks the ability to persuade others even though he is a salesperson.（Dan 虽然是销售人员，却缺乏说服他人的能力。）
那 lack 在当名词时，的确是会加上介系词 of 的。例如：
Sammy kept making mistakes because of her lack of experience.（Sammy 因为缺乏经验而频频犯错。）
Joe was found not guilty because of a lack of evidence.（因为缺乏证据，Joe 获判无罪。）
