Spend （V.）花费金钱或是时间

（动词三态：Spend, spent, spent）

用法1：人 + spend + 时间/钱 + 动词ing（V-ing）

用法2：人 + spend + 时间/钱 + on 名词（N.）

「Spend」的用法其实挺简单明了的。只要记得「Spend」只能以人当主词，而人是「有选择」地花费金钱或时间在某件事物上。

  • 例句：I spend an hour exercising every night.
    （我每天晚上花1小时运动。）
  • 例句：Harry spends two and half hours to go to school everyday.
    （哈瑞每天花两个半小时通勤去学校上课。）
  • 例句：Melody spent $5000 on the make-up things every month.
    （美乐蒂每个月花五千元在化妆品上面。）
  • 例句：Katy is going to spend the whole weekend preparing for the presentation.
    （凯蒂要花整个周末的时间来准备这个报告。）

 

Cost （V.）花费金钱

（动词三态：Cost, cost, cost）

用法：「事物 + cost +（人）+ 钱

「Cost」和 「Spend」最大的不同在于主词是物品或是「It」。它只用于花费多少金额，而不用在花时间且主词不会是人。

  • 例句：It cost me $50000 to buy the ticket from Taiwan to Costa Rica.
    （从台湾去哥斯大黎加的机票花了我五万元。）
  • 例句：My new laptop cost me almost $40000. It’s really expensive.
    （我的新电脑花了我将近四万元。真的很贵！）
  • 例句：The cost of tour is $2000 each person which is pretty reasonable.
    （团费是每人两千元，蛮合理的。）
  • 例句：It costs me around 100,000 dollars to buy this 60 years old house.
    （这栋屋龄60年的房子花了我10万元。）

 

Take （V.）花费时间

（动词三态：Take, took, taken）

用法1：事物 + take +（人）+ 时间

用法2：It + takes +（人）+ 时间 + to 动词

「Take」只用于花费时间，它的主词可以是「it」 或「花时间做的事情」。在这里特别注意「take 」后面加「所做的事」时，要用 「to ＋动词 ( 不定词) 」，而放句首时要用动名词。

  • 例句：It took me 2 hours to finished my essay.
    （我花了两小时才完成这篇文章。）
  • 例句：It took me 46 hours to travel to Peru. I am dead tired now.
    （我花了46个小时才到秘鲁。我现在超累的。）
  • 例句：Writing the report took me an hour.
    （写这报告花了我一小时。）
  • 例句：Making this pie took me two hours!
    （做这个派花了我两个小时。）

 

Pay （V.）付钱

（动词三态：Pay, paid, paid）

用法：人 + pay + 钱 + for 人事物

「Pay」和上面三种的用法是最不容易搞混的。它是「付钱」的意思，所以主词一定要是「人」。表示「某人付了钱是为了某人事物」。

  • 例句：Marco told me that he paid 5000 dollars for the apartment.
    （马可跟我说他付了5000钱块买到这间公寓。）
  • 例句：My brother paid almost $5000 to get this motorcycle. It’s insane.
    （我哥付了将近五千元美金才得到这辆摩托车。太扯了。）
  • 例句：If I could get a vacation now, I would pay for a ticket to Thailand right away.
    （如果我现在能有假期，我会立刻付去泰国的机票钱。）
  • 例句：I would pay for it, but he didn’t let me.
    （我会付钱，但他不让我。）
