【常见混淆英文单字】「LIE」和「LAY」，说谎、放置、躺下英文用法你分得清吗？

Lie （vi.）说谎
（动词变化：Lie – Lied – Lied）
「Lie」的第一个意思大家一定很熟悉，那就是说谎！就让我们一起看看例句，认识一下当「Lie」表示说谎的时候要怎么用？
- 例句：Stop lying to me, Jason.
（别再对我说谎了，杰森。）
- 例句：Do you know that your husband just lied to the girl he just meet that he is single?
（他对这个刚认识的女孩谎称自己单身吗？）
- 例句：Yesterday, my boyfriend lie to me again. And I am done with it.
（我男友昨天又对我说谎了。我受够了！）

「Lie」除了作动词有说谎的意思之外，当它作名词用时，有「谎言」的意思。在这里如果要表达「说谎」的话，经常用动词「Tell」，而非「Say」或是「 Speak」。
- 例句：I hate telling lies to people, even it is a white lie.
（我很讨厌说谎，即使是善意的谎言。）
＊在这里注意，一般我们不用「I hate lies」或是「I hate to lie.」 因为上述的这两个句子，虽然文法正确，但意思上来说有「我不想说话，但我必须要」的一层意思在。
Lie （vi.）躺下
（动词变化：Lie – Lay – Lain）
「Lie」作躺下的意思时，会依照后面躺的位置或地方的不同，而使用不同的介系词。此外，作躺下意思的「Lie的过去式」最容易与「表示放置意思的Lay」搞混，因此务必记得当「Lay」作为躺下的过去式时，后面不可以直接加名词。
- 例句：Deny lies on the floor and stares at the wall.
（丹尼躺在地上，盯著天花板。）
- 例句：A girl who wear a white wedding dress lay in front of the Christmas tree which looks like a American horror movie.
（一个身穿白纱的女孩躺在圣诞树的前面，那副景象看起来像是美国的恐怖电影。）
- 例句：Because of the rainy day, our trip to Hualian canceled, my boyfriend and I lay in bed whole day.
（因为下雨我们去花莲的旅行取消，我和男友已经在床上躺了一整天了。）
- 例句：Benson, your son is lying on the floor now, please tell him to behave.
（班森，你儿子正躺在地板上，请管好他！）
Lay （vt.）放置、产卵
（动词变化：Lay – Laid – Laid）
「Lay」作放置或是产卵的意思时，是及物动词，因此后面一定要加受词。
- 例句：My dad laid his hand on my shoulder, and told me he is really proud of me.
（我的父亲将他的收放在我的肩上并跟我说他很骄傲。）
- 例句：This hen has laid three eggs since this morning, she is very productive.
（这只母鸡从早上开始已经产下三颗蛋，他很有效率。）
- 例句：Darling, could you please lay the table before our guests arrived? I don’t want them to wait after they arrived.
（亲爱的，你能在我们的宾客来之前将桌子准备好？我不想他们来了还要等！）
- 例句：A friend of mine just give birth two weeks ago, while we went to visit her, we saw that she laid her baby gently on the bed. The scene is too beautiful!
（我有个朋友在两周前刚产子，当我们去拜访他的时候，看到他将他的宝宝轻轻地放在床上，那画面真的太温馨了！）
